GLA -Candidates

Marley King

I have decided to stand as a constituency candidate as I have a real passion for community engagement, something I believe is essential in the role of a candidate. I have lived in London all my life and understand the issues residents are facing in their day to day life.

I have excellent links with local community groups and am fighting constantly to ensure that underrepresented people's voices are heard. I want to highlight green issues and show voters the advantages of having elected Greens.

I am aware that in the past the party has struggled to connect with diverse communities. A key part of my campaign strategy is to connect and improve our interactions with people who are not traditionally identified as a core green voter.

Within the national party, I hold several diversity and organisational roles which has allowed me to gain experience interacting with people from all kinds of backgrounds,

During the past year under my role as London BME officer I have created excellent links with local parties. I have supported many parties during by-elections, I have been involved in supporting parties to increase capacity and to become more diverse and welcoming partied.

Outside of politics I help run a free community café where I connect with forgotten members of our society. I offer housing, asylum and benefit advice to those in need. I am also a mental health first aider. I have previously worked for the nhs as a social prescriber.

I am a mother to two young children who have various and complex special needs, so have become an expert in special educational needs. I held the position as special needs governor for many years.

I have recently become interested in environmental visual art and had my art trail mentioned in the Metro newspaper.

By-Election -Candidate

Louis Goddard-Glen

Louis Goddard-Glen is the Green Party candidate for Shortlands and Park Langley ward, is 24, lived in Bromley for their whole life, and a is a member of the LGBT+ community. They recently started working on the railway and has just finished their training.

Members of Bromley Green Party campaigned successfully with RMT to keep ticket offices open, with enormous support from the public.

Bromley really needs a change. With failing local services, erosion of green spaces and rising knife crime, we need smarter solutions.

Reinvest in social services to improve the local area and make wellbeing of residents a priority in Bromley. Supporting the installation of lifts at Shortlands Station to allow for step-free access to the station to support disabled people, older people, push chairs/prams and other people with access needs.

Some further priorities include:
  • Actively preventing the erosion of our valuable green spaces against high rises and developments, and promoting improvement of our environment.
  • Tackling knife-crime in Shortlands and Park Langley ward: invest in fully trained community police to aid in the prevention of violence and reinvest in social care and youth services, to target the sources of these issues and support and nurture our young people and children.
  • Protecting resident safety and health: push for reducing speed of traffic near schools and other essential areas to 20mph along with installation of pedestrian crossings around the area.

Louis is very enthusiastic about making these positive changes in both Shortlands & Park Langley and Bromley as a whole, and will advocate for inclusivity and a caring environment for all in Shortlands and Park Langley.
