Local Green candidates joined forces with representatives of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) on 2 May to oppose the passage of nuclear waste trains through Bromley South station.
The trains carry nuclear fuel rods through Bromley on their way to Sellafield, Cumbria, where they are reprocessed.
Ann Garrett, Green candidate for Erith and Thamesmead, said, "This is a commuter line passing through residential areas, which means that highly radioactive uranium and plutonium is coming into close contact with people's homes.
"We believe this is an unacceptable risk, and that's why we're campaigning for an end to the transport of dangerous nuclear material through our local area."
The Green Party is opposed to all nuclear power generation. To find out more, read our Energy policies.
