On August 9th the anniversary of the day the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki in 1945, hundreds of anti-nuclear campaigners gathered between Burghfield and Aldermaston to unroll 7 miles of knitted pieces to demonstrate their opposition to the manufacture of Trident warheads. The woollen pieces will be made into blankets to be sent to people in war, famine and flood zones throughout the world.
Members of Bromley and Bexley Green Party were there with their banner and knitted pieces.
The Green Party us opposed to the renewal of Trident nuclear missiles, which will divert billions of pounds of public money away from urgent needs such as local services and securing our energy supply.
