A Guardian investigation showed that Bromley council is one of several UK councils who deposits money in Qatar National Bank accounts.

A Conservative councillor replied with the following:

We replied to this again highlighting that we did not mention illegality – but that this was an issue of ethics and morals. We further asked whether we could publish the reply by the council (to which the councillor agreed – see also below).

‘Standing Room Only’

A short play which touches on the sensitive subject of homelessness, and a host of trials and tribulations which those without a home must face on a day-to-day basis, such as victimisation, lack of respect, love and care. It also includes mental health issues, loneliness, a lack of understanding by certain members of the public and problems with the authorities.

This short play was written and is being performed by Alan Walters.

The play has been performed successfully at the Greenwich Theatre as part of the ‘Tall Ships Festival’.

Children are welcome, but suggested age is 10+, only due to the understanding of the play.

After the play, there will be a speaker from Shelter/ Bromley Homeless.

Mark Phillippo and Ruth Fabricant will speak briefly on behalf of Bromley Green Party.

Poems will be read by Ann Garrett and Patricia McKinnon-Lower.

The event will end with refreshments and a chance for people to mingle and chat if they wish.

DATE AND TIME:  SATURDAY  26^th NOVEMBER 2022

2pm – FOR A 2.30 START. EVENT ENDS AT 4 pm.

VENUE: UNITED REFORM CHURCH BROMLEY – Whitfield Hall,

20 Widmore Road, BR1 1RY (next to Boots)

The hall is airy and spacious, so audience can spread out.

Tickets cost £7 and include light refreshments.

Proceeds will go to Bromley Green Party with a guaranteed donation of £50 to the charity ‘Shelter’.

(At our last summer ‘Arts Social’ we collected a large box of toiletries and coffee, for ‘Bromley Homeless.’)

….On Saturday the Schiphol private Airport in Amsterdam was stopped by environmental groups, protesting against greenhouse gas emissions and local noise pollution, way higher then those of regular domestic air traffic. Local flightpath residents joint in the protest spontaneously and the news made it even into CNBC:

While flightpath-residents have complaint about the increased noise and breaches of 1000 feet height, has Mr Winstanley responded: “What our data is telling us is that the noise levels have not significantly increased”, knowing that measurements are not taken under the flightpath in Farnborough & Crofton where the residents live and the planes are the lowest in height. In the very same interview with the NewShopper he said:”Flightpath Watch are just simply not helping residents”.

While Flightpath-Residents want the original 2016 NAP for all incoming flights to R03 is the current approval of a “new instrument approach for Runway 3” designed to ‘add’ capability at both ends of its main runway imminent.

One small victory for the Bromley Green Party at this meeting was, that environmental concerns about pollution arising from the airport is now firmly on the agenda and can no longer be ignored!

Once again is the owner of the airport deciding over the residents, if they will receive their 2016 Noise Action Plan or not.

Biggin Hill Airport Ltd (BHAL) had prepared their 2016Noise Action Plan (NAP), but did not provide sufficient details, so it failed.The meetings are as follows:
– Tuesday 18 October 2022 (7:00pm) – Scrutiny Committee
– Wednesday 19 October 2022 (7:00pm) – Executive Committee

Both meetings will be held in the Council Chamber at the Bromley Civic Centre.

Visit and make your voice count, to stop their excessive emission & noise.
